The Minister of Public Enterprise of the Government of South Africa, sold shares in Telkom S.A., South Africa’s leading fixed line telephone company. This was the first privatisation focusing on historically disadvantaged individuals. The campaign achieved over 1.5m retail registrants, and was 7 times subscribed, raising US $491m.
