Acquisition by Cable & Wireless
Cable & Wireless announced their intention to purchase THUS plc, a telecommunications company, with an offer of 165p per share, which was rejected. Cable & Wireless subsequently announced that it had acquired a 29.9% stake with an improved offer of £329m or 180p per share. THUS began life as Scottish Telecom, an offshoot of the privatised energy company, Scottish Power.
